A New, More Flexible Way to Navigate Appara
We’ve updated the navigation across all Appara solutions to make it easier to move through the platform, and personalize your workspace to suit the way you work.
Your main sections now appear along the top of the screen, with additional sections available under More.
Make the navigation yours
Your most-used sections now appear along the top of the screen, with additional options available under More.
To personalize your navigation, select More → Format Nav Bar.
From here, drag and drop sections to arrange them in your preferred order, keeping the areas you use most within easy reach.
You can also use the toggles to hide sections you don’t regularly use. Your navigation preferences can be updated at any time.
The sections available will vary depending on your Appara solution and permissions.
Help Center and settings have moved
Looking for the Help Center or your settings? Select your initials in the top-right corner to access:
· User Settings
· Firm Settings for authorized users
· Help Center
· Logout
The functionality you rely on hasn’t changed, it’s simply been reorganized to provide a cleaner, more personalized Appara experience.
New Inline Editor Enhancements
We’re introducing two new enhancements to make editing and formatting documents in Appara easier and more precise.
Spell Check
Spell Check helps you catch possible spelling mistakes while editing documents in Appara. Potential errors are marked with a red wavy underline.
Right-click a flagged word to choose a suggested correction or add the word to your personal dictionary. You can also select Spelling at the bottom of the Inline Editor to review potential errors and move directly to them in your document.
A few things to know
Spell Check supports Canadian English and US English. Select Dictionary at the bottom of the Inline Editor to choose your preferred language, or select Auto (Browser locale) to use your browser’s language settings.
Names and specialized terms may be flagged. Selecting Add to Dictionary prevents them from being flagged again in your current browser.
Words added to your dictionary are saved in your current browser and do not automatically sync across devices or with other users.
Spell Check checks spelling only. Grammar, context and final proofreading will still require your review.
Resize Table Columns and Rows
You can now adjust table layouts directly in the Inline Editor by dragging table borders.
Drag an internal column border to adjust the widths of the two neighbouring columns.
Drag a row border to adjust the row height.
Drag the table’s right edge to change the overall width of the table.
A guide shows the border’s new position before you release your mouse, helping you make more precise adjustments.
Please note that manually resizing a column will turn off AutoFit for that table.
This update is supported by improvements to the Inline Editor’s document rendering, bringing its display closer to Microsoft Word. These improvements include more accurate:
Line heights and paragraph spacing
Tab alignment
Table layouts
Cell spacing and vertical alignment
Table borders
As document formatting is now displayed more accurately, some existing documents may look slightly different in the Inline Editor.
